NEWS RELEASE:

Delta Fredericton’s executive chef named Culinary Ambassador of the Year
Héctor Jiménez-Bravo awarded Canadian Culinary Federation’s Ambassador’s Award

Fredericton, New Brunswick, January 25, 2008 -- Delta Fredericton Hotel’s executive chef Héctor Jiménez-Bravo has been named the 2007 Culinary Ambassador of the Year by the Canadian Culinary Federation’s Ottawa branch.

This is the second consecutive year that Jiménez-Bravo has been selected for this prestigious award.

“Chef Héctor was voted unanimously because of his extensive international involvement. It was a natural fit as we cannot forget his top award last year as “Best Hotel Chef” from the Eastern Europe Chef Toques Association, this award says a lot in recognition for his commitment to the Federation and his brigade at the hotel,”says Allen Holtz, CCC, president of the Canadian Culinary Federation, Ottawa Branch.

With his extensive international experience, Jiménez-Bravo brings the same bold approach to his trade in Fredericton and is blazing a trail in the local culinary scene that brings together the best of his extensive experience. From flavors and technique from his native Colombia, to influences from his time in St. Petersburg, Russia, to Asian-inspired presentations blended with classical French preparation methods, Hector is adding a new dimension to the local gastronomic landscape.

“I think food absorbs energy – the atmosphere in a kitchen needs to be positive. Even under pressure, you need to enjoy cooking,” says Jiménez-Bravo. “Cooking to me is like making love – you wish to see the smile of the person you are trying to please!”

“We’re very proud to have Chef Héctor on our leadership team here at the Delta Fredericton. His passion and talent for cooking is admirable. This recognition from his peers in Ottawa speaks volumes to his approach to his craft,” says Holyoke.

Jiménez-Bravo’s menu can be enjoyed at Bruno’s Restaurant at the Delta Fredericton on the edge of the St. John River. Bruno’s is dedicated to doing things differently and to using local ingredients presented in an atmosphere of unpretentious and gracious hospitality. With its East Coast hospitality, Bruno’s brings a global culinary experience to Fredericton.

The Delta Fredericton is located on the St. John River in downtown Fredericton. Explore all the city has to offer from right outside the front door where five kilometers of riverside pathways wind along Victorian-style homes and historic landmarks. The hotel’s 222 rooms are equipped with two-line speakerphones, 27" TVs and free high-speed Internet access in each guestroom.
