NEWS RELEASE:
Check into CHIP Hotels this Holiday Season and Support a Local Charity
VANCOUVER, BC (November 1, 2007) – CHIP Hospitality’s Friends in Need program is once again
welcoming guests to check-in for charities this holiday season. The company’s 32 hotels across
the country are offering rates of up to 50% off to holiday travelers to help support local community
groups.
Launched nationally in 2000, the annual promotion includes all CHIP Hospitality hotels across
Canada, including some Delta Hotels, Radisson, Holiday Inn, Hilton and Coast Hotels. For every
room night sold during December 21-28, 2007, $10 will be donated to a local charity. Holiday season
rates range from $49.00 - $89.00 per night for standard guest rooms, representing a savings of
up to 50 per cent. To date, the Friends in Need program has collectively contributed more than
$679,000 to charities in communities across Canada. Amongst this year’s “Friends in Need” are
charities such as the Canadian Red Cross, Children’s Wish Foundation and Noel des Enfants.
“Our business is nothing without the support of and connection with the communities where we operate,” says
CHIP Hospitality President and CEO Ed Pitoniak. “The Friends in Need program not only helps raise
money for local charities but also provides travelers a place to stay for exceptional value during
the holiday season.” Other CHIP ‘Hotels with Heart’ programs include annual scholarships in each
region, educational internship programs with culinary and hospitality training schools, sponsorship
of the Canadian Extreme Kindness movement and implementation of the Hotel Association of Canada’s
Green Key ECOmmodation program.
